I thought I heard you calling but the voice was in my head

The chords I use are failing to hold the tune instead

Forever in my memory as I thought it should

And I’m living in the fantasy I thought I never would

It was just a fantasy that was not meant to be

 

How have I lived without you? I cannot really say.

I was just another lover who watched you walk away

But I cannot get you out of my mind or of my thoughts

Maybe it’s a fantasy - but only at the start.

 

Were I to live forever will I ever love again?

My life seems to be measured in the lyrics of my songs

I’m chasing an illusion that I could even try

But even in a fantasy - true love never dies.

 

And as my life is over and all my dreams are done

You are not far behind me as we move towards the end

Will we enter into Heaven which might be our new domain?

Was it just a fantasy – or did I love you in vain?
